Marketing the Needs of the Consumer

Saturday morning I was getting ready to go for a ride to Safety Harbor for breakfast a few miles from my home in Saint Petersburg. Before leaving I went on twitter and posted an update “morning ride to safety harbor for some breakfast.. off to a later start than i expected, it’s gonna be hot”.

Before arriving at Safety Harbor I had received a reply reading “Stop by & see us!”.

After thinking about it, I’ve never expected an establishment to market to me specifically in the moment of my need. It’s truly amazing. The sad part? I still have no clue where the replier’s establishment is.

Allow me to break it down for you, I posted on twitter my need (breakfast) and received a reply that could fill this need (they could feed me breakfast for a fee) except they didn’t tell me where they were located.

Sure, I could have replied back “What address?” or googled the account name but instead I stopped at the first place that I saw breakfast clearly advertised. If only the replier had linked me to a google map to arrive at the location, or even mentioned the street address, instead they put fourth an effort that should have paid off. But I wonder, what lesson should the business learn from this?
