Auditions are fast approaching! I'm sure you're excited to become part of an NFL pro cheerleading/dance team. Is it the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders? Because they've already released this year's audition details. Here's what you need to know about the auditions and getting yourself prepared!

Audition Rounds and Other Details

Here are their 2021 audition dates:

The filing of online applications will start on the 2nd and will end on the 15th of May 2021.
The preliminary and semifinal audition dates haven’t been announced on the team page yet but will be sent to you once you have filed your online application.
There is no fill-up form for the online application on the DCC website yet. However, it’s highly recommended that you visit their page regularly. It’s highly probable that the application form will be available on May 2, 2021.

The audition finals will be on June 14-16, 2021, and will be held at the AT&T stadium.

Qualifications and What the Judges Look For

Qualifications and requirements:

You must be 18-years-old and above by the time the preliminary auditions begin.
International auditionees or non-citizens of the United States are welcome to audition. However, the Dallas Cowboys don’t sponsor international candidates. Non-citizens are also required to provide proof of working eligibility in the United States when auditioning.
You must look fit, healthy, and well proportioned when wearing dance apparel.
There are no height or weight requirements. As mentioned, you must look fit.
Candidates are encouraged to have part-time, full-time jobs, or be college students before auditioning as the career of a pro cheerleader is part-time work.
You must be able to attend all rehearsals before the season and home games. Applicants who cannot do this are discouraged from applying to be a DCC.

Judging Criteria

Candidates who are skilled in dancing are more likely to advance into the finals and make the squad. That includes being a fast learner when introduced to new dance routines, knowing and mastering a few dance genres such as hip-hop and jazz, and performing dances and routines with the proper techniques.
You must be able to display high levels of showmanship.
Being able to perform high kicks and splits will earn the favor of the judges. If you can’t do them now, do your best to work on your flexibility before the auditions start.
Appearance is important as a DCC. You must be well-groomed, elegant, and can maintain a good figure before auditioning and as a bonafide Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.
For your makeup, you must choose a style that’s medium and would complement well with your features. Refer to this link.
In terms of personality, judges will focus on those who are energetic, enthusiastic, polite, and kind.

Audition Attire

Wear athletic or dance bras as your top. For your bottom, short boy shorts and non-shimmery skin-colored dance tights are highly recommended. Bike shorts and bikini-style bottoms aren’t allowed. During the dancing portion of the auditions, you are required to wear slip-on jazz shoes. Nike Flex shoes and Nfinity Cheer shoes will be worn during the cheering portion.

There are a variety of online dance classes that a DCC aspirant can attend to be familiar with what genre of dancing will be favored by the audition judges.
