Nick Saban is again the highest-paid coach in college football after the Alabama board of trustees compensation committee approved Tuesday a new contract for the 70-year-old football coach that expires in February 2030. The eight-year contract is worth $93.6 million, with an average yearly salary over the length of the contract of $11.7 million. Saban’s 2022 salary will be $10.7 million, and it will rise to $12.7 million in 2029.

Saban had been scheduled to make $9.9 million this year before the extension after signing a new deal through the 2028 season last summer. The new contract pushes him ahead of Georgia coach Kirby Smart, who received a new 10-year contract in July with a 2022 salary of $10.25 million and an average value of $11.25 million.

Saban took the Alabama job in 2007 with a then-average salary of $4 million over the length of the first contract. Saban has led Alabama to six national championships and eight SEC titles.
Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne also received a three-year extension through 2029 and a five percent raise.
