Avalanche's Stanley Cup rings heavy on symbolism (2024)

The Avalanche's 2022 Stanley Cup rings "were a secret until Monday night," when players "received them at a private ceremony at The Country Club at Castle Pines, Colo." In honor of now-President of Hockey OperationsJoe Sakic’s jersey number, the ring "has 19 diamonds on the snow portion of the team’s logo."Avalanche VP/Media & Player Relations Brendan McNicholas: “He’s the only guy to win it as a captain and GM of the same franchise.” The 18.5 carat ring has 669 diamonds, 42 rubies and 20 sapphires. It is "filled with symbols." The left side of every ring "features the recipient’s name and, for players, their jersey number." Each ring is "likely appraised somewhere between $40,000-$50,000" (THE ATHLETIC, 10/10).

A piece of history.
