3FREQ3-Point FrequencyThe percentage of a team’s or player’s shots that are 3-point attempts.

A/TOAssist/Turnover RatioThe number of assists for a team or player compared to the number of turnovers committed.

Formula: AST/TO

ASTAssistsThe number of passes that lead directly to a made basket by a team or player.
BPBench PointsThe number of points contributed by players who come off the bench (non-starters) during a game.
BLKBlocked ShotsThe number of blocks – a shot that is touched or deflected by a defensive player that alters the trajectory of the shot attempt – by a team or player.
DEF EFFDefensive EfficiencyThe measure of a team’s defensive ability to prevent their opponents from scoring by calculating the number of points a team gives up per 100 possessions.

Formula: (Opp. PTS/POSS) x 100

DEF FTRDefensive Free Throw RateThe measure of how often a team allows their opponents to get to the foul line. It is the number of free throw attempts compared to the number of field goal attempts.

Formula: Opp. FTA/Opp. FGA

DREBDefensive ReboundsThe number of rebounds a team or player collects while on defense.
DREB%Defensive Rebound PercentageThe percentage of available rebounds that a team secures while on defense.

Formula:DREB / (DREB + OPP OREB)

DEF TO%Defensive Turnover PercentageThe percentage of possessions that result in a turnover while a team is on defense.

Formula: Opp. TO / Opp. POSS

EFG%Effective Field Goal PercentageA shooting statistic that adjusts for the fact that a 3-point field goal is worth one more point than a 2-point field goal.For example, if Player A is 4/10 with two 3-pointers and Player B is 5/10 with zero 3-pointers, both players would have the same number of points (10). Thus, both players’ EFG% equals 50%.

Formula: FGM + (0.5 x 3PM) / FGA

EFF +/-Efficiency MarginAlso known as Net Efficiency, the difference between a team’s offensive and defensive efficiency.

FB PTSFast Break PointsThe number of points scored by a team or player while on fast breaks.
FG%Field Goal PercentageThe percentage of field goals that a team or player makes.

FGAField Goals AttemptedThe number of field goals that a team or player attempts.

OFF AST%Offensive Assist PercentageThe percentage of made field goals by a team as a result from an assist – a pass that leads directly to a made basket.

OFF EFFOffensive EfficiencyThe measure of a team’s offensive ability to score by calculating the number of points a team accumulates per 100 possessions.

Formula: (PTS/POSS) x 100

OFF FTROffensive Free Throw RateThe measure of how often a team gets to the foul line. It is the number of free throw attempts compared to the number of field goal attempts.

OREBOffensive ReboundsThe number of rebounds a team or player collects while on offense.

PITPPoints in the PaintThe number of points a team or player has scored on shots taken in the paint area.
PTS OFF TOPoints Off TurnoversThe number of points scored by a team following an opponent possession that results in a turnover.
PTS/POSSPoints Per PossessionThe number of points a team scores per possession.

Formula: PTS / POSS

POSSPossessionsThe number of possessions – a sequence by the offense ending in a made field goal, made free throw, turnover, or defensive rebound – played by a team. Note: an offensive rebound does not create a new possession, it simply extends the current possession.
REB +/-Rebound MarginThe difference between a team’s total rebounds and their opponent’s total rebounds.

Formula: REB – Opp. REB

REB%Rebound PercentageThe percentage of available rebounds that a team secures.

Formula: REB / REB + Opp. REB

REBReboundsThe number of times a team or player recovers the ball after a missed shot attempt.
REBRebounds (Team)The number of times a team gains possession of the ball after a missed shot that does not secured by an inbound player.
PTS +/-Scoring MarginThe point differential between a team and their opponent when a team, lineup, or player is on the floor.

Formula: PTS (Team) – PTS (Opp.)

2ND PTSSecond Chance PointsThe number of points that a team scores after they have attempted at least one shot during the same possession.
STLStealsThe number of times a team or player legally takes the ball away from an opponent, intercepts a pass, or otherwise gains possession following an opponent turnover (provided the ball remains in bounds and the clock has not stopped).
TS%True Shooting PercentageA shooting percentage that factors in the value of 3-point field goals and free throws in addition to the total number of field goal attempts.

Formula: PTS / 2 x (FGA + (0.44 x FTA))

TOTurnoversThe number of times a team or player loses possession of the ball without attempting a field goal or free throw (except at the end of a period).
