Why can't I generate monthly cash flow statements similar to monthly balance sheets and monthly P&L statements for a period of time?

The cash flow statement is one of the three necessary statements to meet GAAP requirements. It is a basic statement with very valuable information. Being able to see your cash flow on a month to month basis is basic information needed to manage your business.

You're able to use different reports and projections to get a clear look at your current and future business's finances in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). You can pull up the Profit & Lossreport to get your average income and expenses for each month. With this, you can also monitor themoney moving in and out of your business and bank account.

1. Go to the Reports menu.
2. Choose Company & Financial, then select theProfit & Lossreport you want (i.e. Profit & Loss Detail).
3. Select the Customize Report button to set the dates and other necessary details.

Because Intuit never made that possible. It's a complicated report and they probably thought it was too hard.

Very disappointed that Intuit doesn't provide a cash flow by month (and class report). The statement of cash flows doesn't seem to open into transaction detail. The problem with income and expenses by month, is that it doesn't show loan inflows and outflows, owner draws, additional capital, etc. Especially for businesses that use operating loans, a detailed cash flow by month report is essential.

I know how important being able to run different kinds of reports for your business. I would feel the same regarding the missing report in QuickBooks Desktop.

As of now, there's no update yet as to when this report will be available. However, please know that we want QuickBooks users like you to take part in the enhancements.

While we assess this, I suggest sharing your suggestion directly with our product developers. We always make improvements in the product, and this preference might be added in the future.

Here's how:

1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
2. Click the Help tab at the top menu bar.
3. Hover your cursor to Send Feedback Online.
4. Select Product Suggestion or Help System Suggestion.
