How do you put decals on a goalie helmet? ›
Measure where you want to place each decal first. Make sure your utility knife is sharp. Cut the vinyl lightly, you don't want to scratch your goalie mask. Use the blow dryer consistently throughout this process, especially when stretching over slopes and ridges.
How long does it take to make a goalie mask? ›

How long do goalie mask wraps last? ›
How long do they last for? All of our decals are printed onto a NON-permanent vinyl. We found that it is much easier to apply and will not leave any left over residue on your goalie mask. I've personally left mine on for over a year now and its still in good shape.

Birth of the First Mask
In 1959, Jacques Plante became the first NHL goalie to don a full mask in an NHL game after being struck by a shot in the first period. This mask, made of fiberglass, was snugly fitted to Jacques' face and was effective in protecting against shots in this age.

For a helmet wrap you want a very thin and highly flexible plastic or wrap vinyl that will stretch over curves. That's usually going to be cast vinyl. Calendared vinyl is cheaper, but usually far too thick for helmet wrap application.

A cast vinyl is a good fit for this application. Use one that is 2 mil with a permanent adhesive. Because of the abuse a helmet takes you'll also want to laminate any graphics with a cold lamination film.
