Ram sentence Hanuman to death
Once, after Lord Ram had returned to his kingdom from the exile, Narada Muni asked Hanuman to greet all the sages at the court after it was adjourned. However, Narada Muni had tricked Hanuman into believing that he was not supposed to greet Sage Vishwamitra.

Hanuman, following Narada Muni's orders, greeted all the sages but Vishwamitra, who did not take offense from this. But Narada Muni, meaning to create disharmony, went ahead and provoked Sage Vishwamitra.
Instigated, Vishwamitra charged up to Lord Ram and asked Hanuman to be punished to death for his act of disrespect. Lord Ram, who was a former student of Sage Vishwamitra, could not ignore his guru's command and, hence, ordered Hanuman's execution by arrows.
So how did Hanuman dodge the death sentence?
The following day, Hanuman was taken to a field for his execution. But to everyone's awe, none of the arrows shot at him could harm him, for he kept chanting Lord Ram's name.
Ram, tied by his word to Vishwamitra, stepped in and prepared to shoot Hanuman with his special weapon, the Brahmastra. But even that failed against Hanuman's chants.
At last, seeing Hanuman's devotion, Narada Muni gave in and confessed his deed to Sage Vishwamitra, eventually stopping the execution.
