Newfoundland recovered nicely from the setback in Worcester, staying in the New England area to take back-to-back wins against the Maine Mariners on Friday and Saturday.
3) Cincinnati Cyclones (5-0-0-1) (Last Week: 3)
The Cyclones are one of just three teams to remain unbeaten in regulation this season, with their first loss coming at the hands of the Fort Wayne Komets on Tuesday in a shootout.
4) Idaho Steelheads (6-1-0-0) (Last Week: 6)
Idaho has rattled off four straight wins, outscoring opponents 16-3 along the way. That includes a sweep of a three games-in-four-nights stretch against Rapid City last week.
5) Florida Everblades (4-1-0-0) (Last Week: 10)
The defending Kelly Cup champs also have rattled off four straight wins to start a relatively light schedule over the first three weeks of the season.
They played just twice over the weekend, sweeping a back-to-back at-home series against Jacksonville.
6) Indy Fuel (5-1-0-0) (Last Week: 9)
Indy put up back-to-back five-goal showings in an impressive week, first beating Iowa, then Kalamazoo, to continue a hot start to their season.
7) South Carolina Stingrays (5-1-0-0) (Last Week: 8)
No, that’s not a typo in the box scores – South Carolina really did beat Orlando 9-7 on Sunday in the league’s highest-scoring contest of the year.
The Stingrays potted an extraordinary four power play goals along the way, and 13 players, including goaltender Tyler Wall, registered at least one point.
8) Savannah Ghost Pirates (5-1-0-0) (Last Week: 4)
After losing on Friday night to cap their five-game, season-opening road trip, the Ghost Pirates christened the Enmarket Arena with a 5-1 win over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits one night later.
9) Utah Grizzlies (4-3-0-0) (Last Week: 19)
Utah emerged with four points in a three-game set in Kansas City, dropping the Tuesday opener, before using 11 total goals to take the weekend’s games.
10) Wichita Thunder (4-2-1-0) (Last Week: 7)
The Thunder were faced with a difficult three-in-three weekend and did well to capture four points.
Wichita took the bookends of that slate with wins at home against Allen and Tulsa, but dropped the game on the road to the Oilers on Saturday in the middle of it.
