Every LEGO Harry Potter set retiring in 2022 and beyond (2024)

All three of LEGO Harry Potter’s direct-to-consumer sets are scheduled to stay on shelves through 2024, with one new release destined to retire all the way in 2025.

The LEGO Group seems content to keep its three biggest Wizarding World sets on shelves concurrently for the time being, as 71043 Hogwarts Castle, 75978 Diagon Alley and 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition are all slated to retire by December 31, 2024. That means you’ve still got plenty of time to pick up each and every one of those gigantic models – handy when saving up for them requires some effort.

It also means 71043 Hogwarts Castle will soon join the ranks of the LEGO sets with the longest shelf lives, having originally launched all the way back in 2018. If you’ve got your eye on the 6,020-piece microscale model, though, there’s still a good reason to push it up your priority list: at least in the US, it’s due to increase in price by a blistering $70 on August 1. There’s no word yet on whether we’ll see a similar price increase in the UK and Europe, but waiting to find out could prove expensive.

And what of the latest wave of LEGO Harry Potter sets, which runs the gamut from the Prisoner of Azkaban through to the Deathly Hallows? It’s a fair mix of retirement dates all in all –some are currently due to depart shelves by the end of 2023, while others will hang on into 2024. 76403 The Ministry of Magic, meanwhile, is (for now) the only LEGO Harry Potter set from the current batch that will be available in 2025.

So, no immediate rush on those – more pressing are the 15 sets retiring this year, among which are the likes of 75980 Attack on the Burrow and 76392 Hogwarts Wizard’s Chess. It’s unlikely we’ll see repeats of those two in the near future, so they could both be savvy purchases for budding investors, and should be equally targeted by collectors hoping not to pay premium prices on the aftermarket.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
