- All episodes of You season 2 just dropped on Netflix.
- Candace, Joe's ex-girlfriend is alive and seeking revenge this season.
- Here's what you need to know about the returning character.
You Season 2 is finally here and if there's one character besides Joe who I am most excited to see again, it's Candace. Remember her? Joe's ex-girlfriend who made a shocking appearance at the end of last season?
You didn't really get to know Candace (played by Ambyr Childers) in season 1—in fact, it was kind of implied that she was six feet under. But it looks like she might be the only person capable of making Joe (Penn Badgley) pay for his crimes in season 2. Here's everything you need to know about Candace.
WARNING: This post contains spoilers for seasons 1 and 2 of You.
Candace was an aspiring musician when she first met Joe.
In Season 1, Candace is portrayed as the fledging musician that Joe falls in love with—until she cheats on him with the guy that signed her to a label.
Candace had "disappeared" to Italy by the time Joe met Beck.
During season 1, we're reminded over and over again how odd Candace's sudden disappearance was. In fact, there's a moment during season 1 when Joe tells Beck, and a friend of Candace's who they ran into at a party, that their relationship ended when Candace ran away to Italy.
There were even photos to "prove" it.
When Beck began getting suspicious about the whole Candace situation, Joe even showed her an Instagram profile of Candace traveling around Italy to get her off his case.
Candace haunted Joe in season 1.
Candace appeared throughout season 1 as a ghost in Joe's dreams and hallucinations.
Until she reappeared IRL...
At the end of season 1, Candace showed up at Mr. Mooney's bookstore and uttered the most haunting line of the season to Joe: "Hey, bunny. I think we have some unfinished business to talk about."
Candace is determined to make Joe pay for what he did.
Candace wants justice, but she wants it the right way, with Joe fully aware of his wrongdoing. "That's the most important thing," actor Ambyr Childers said about her character in an interview with Newsweek. "She wants Joe to be real and honest about who he really is and the things that he's done. She wants to stop him from doing it again. She obviously witnessed him in all these romantic situations, and because of his desperation for love, he ends up hurting people in the process."
She's got a new name in season 2.
Candace shows up in season 2 under a new name—Amy Adam, the girlfriend of Joe's new girlfriend's twin brother, named Forty. Twisted enough for you?
She's no longer an aspiring musician.
But when Joe meets Candace in season 2 as Amy Adam, she's pretending to be a film financier who's interested in making a movie with Forty. And here's the best part: It's a film adaptation of Beck's novel.
Can't get enough? Don't worry, season 3 of You is already in the works.
