Growing pains

How old is Atreus in God of War Ragnarok? Atreus, also known as Loki, is one of the stars of Ragnarok, alongside his father Kratos. After the events of the previous God of War, the character is a little bit older in Santa Monica Studio's critically acclaimed sequel — but exactly how old is Atreus? As part of our God of War Ragnarok guide, we're going to reveal how old is Atreus.
God of War Ragnarok: How Old Is Atreus?
Atreus was 11-years-old in God of War, and God of War Ragnarok takes place approximately three years after the original. We know this because in Norse mythology, as confirmed by Mimir in the game, Fimbulwinter is said to last for three years in the lead-up to Ragnarok. We know that the game begins just prior to Ragnarok, therefore we can assume Atreus is 14-years-old.
Incidentally, Kratos' age is much more difficult to determine. The Ghost of Sparta's story starts in a different mythology entirely, and there's roughly 1,000 years between the events of God of War 3 and the Norse mythology's God of War. You can learn more about this in our full God of War story recap.
