Overview

A Grid question is a tabular question that asks respondents to evaluate one or more row items using the same set of column choices.

This question type is commonly used to create Likert scale questions.

On desktops and laptops, Grid questions will be displayed as a table. To enable easy completion on a mobile device, Grid questions will be split into individual choice questions for mobile browsers.

Adding a Grid question

To add any question type to your survey, click the Add new itembutton on the Survey Builder.

This will expand a menu with all of the available question types.

To add a Grid question, select Grid.

This will place a default Grid question on your survey page, ready for you to edit.

Editing a Grid question

Add your overarching question into the Question text box, next to the question number. This should explain how the respondent should consider the statements or questions in each row.

Add your statements or questions into the row item textboxes. You can add more rows by clicking the blue + button.

Add your scale to the column text boxes. You can add more columns by clicking the blue + button.

Question settings

All question types have the following functionalities attached to them:

  • Move question up button: This allows you to move the position of the question in the survey up one place.
  • Move question down button: This allows you to move the position of the question in the survey down one place.
  • Delete question button: If you decide you no longer require the question, you can delete it entirely.
  • Question editor button: This allows you to make any changes to the question and its functionalities (eg correct spelling mistake etc).
  • Required answer toggle button: Slide the toggle to the right, which will make answers to the question compulsory for respondents.
  • Question properties button: Here you can add a description about the question and also apply logic.
