Close the heat press onto the t-shirt. Use medium pressure. Set the temperature to 340-345° Leave for 90 seconds on dark t-shirts, 45 seconds on lights (using the Triton Heat Press, Hotronix machine, or George Knight)
Time – Ironing for too short time will result in the HTV vinyl not sticking to the shirt. Ironing for too long can have the same effect. HTV vinyl works by using a heat activated adhesive, so the time is too short and the heat is not enough to stick. Too long and it will actually burn the adhesive.
If the temperature you use is too low, the vinyl won't stick. You'll have to go over it again at a higher temperature. If your iron temperature is too high, your HTV design will melt and pucker. It'll adhere, but it'll also alter the texture of the fabric.
On average a heat press take about 15-20 minutes to heat up and about twice this amount of time to cool down. Be prepared to pay a higher electric bill if you leave your press on all day – ultimately this should be factored into your overhead costs.
Set your heat press machine to 360 – 370 degrees Fahrenheit. Place your patch on your garment in the desired location. Cover your patch with wax paper to protect it from the heat. With 40 PSI foam under your garment, apply pressure for about 18 seconds.
