How Do I Get My Concrete White Again? Pressure washing is one of the fastest, most effective ways to get your concrete white again. Concrete can change color over time due to pollen, algae, or dirt buildup, but a good pressure wash can easily remove dirt and stains and make your concrete look new again. Here’s how.
Why does pressure washing work?
When your parking lot, carport, or walkway needs a good cleaning, there are very few methods that work as well as pressure washing. Pressure washers shoot water toward the concrete, loosening dirt and anything else that has accumulated over time. Then the dirt and debris washes away. Once the process is finished and the pavement dries, you should be able to see the color difference right away. Are there any stains that pressure washing can’t remove?
Most dirt and debris responds to pressure washing and washes away easily. But some stains/debris might be more stubborn such as paint splatters, oil spills, or chewing gum. In this case, your pressure washing technician may use special soaps and cleaning agents specifically designed to clean concrete in addition to the pressure washing. We strongly advise against DIYing this step, as some cleaners (including vinegar!) are too abrasive and may shorten the lifespan of your concrete. You can trust your pressure washing professional to know what will be both effective to get rid of the stains but also gentle on your concrete. Your agent can even re-seal the concrete after it’s clean, to protect it and lengthen its lifespan.
