Measuring instructions step by step
To calculate your glove size, you will need a measuring tape or piece of string, as well as a long ruler.
- To measure the circumference of your hand, keep your hand open and flex it slightly.
- Then wrap the measuring tape or string around the middle of the hand. It is important to place the tape above the base of the thumb. The thumb is therefore not included when figuring out glove size.
- You should wrap the tape comfortably around the widest part of the hand - not too tight and not too loose.
- You can now use the measuring tape to read your hand circumference and cross-check this with the glove size chart.
- For example, a circumference of 22 cm is a size 8 glove, which is a womens size L and a mens size M.

Different glove sizes for women, men and children
Although the measuring process is always the same, glove sizes for women, men and children are designated differently. A circumference of 19 cm corresponds to a unisex glove size 7, but is a mens size S, a size M for women and a size XL for children. Our size breakdown in the previous comparison chart gives you an overview to help you easily find your glove size. The following points should be considered:
- The hand circumference for children starts at 15 cm, for women it starts at 15.5 cm and for men at 19 cm.
- There are also unisex gloves that can be worn by all adults.
- Men with smaller, slimmer hands may also find something in the womens section, and women with a larger hand circumference can browse through the mens collection for something to suit them.
- The most important thing is to always find a comfortably fitting glove that offers good protection against the elements.
Standardisation of glove sizes in different countries
Our glove sizing chart shows various international sizes. Although using centimetres for sizing is very common, particularly in Germany, American glove sizes are often given in inches or letters or letter combinations, such as XL.
Which glove size corresponds with which childrens age?
We recommend measuring your childs hand circumference to find the ideal glove size for them. However, if you do not have a measuring tape to hand, you can also use the following guidelines. For example, if you are looking for gloves for an 8-year-old child, we recommend a size 4 glove with a circumference of 15 cm. If your child is 11 years old, a size 6 glove with a circumference of 17 cm would be the right choice. It should, however, be noted that these size specifications are only guidelines for average measurements.
What details are important to look at when choosing the right gloves?
As you can see in our size chart, gloves already come in half sizes. If your measurements put you between two sizes, we recommend simply rounding up to the next full or half size. If, for example, you are a woman with a hand circumference of 18.5 cm, you are right in the middle of sizes 6.5 and 7. In this case, you should opt for the size 7. You should also do the same if you are looking to buy particularly thick gloves. Our glove size chart also applies to knitted gloves, fingerless gloves and mittens.
Glove size variation depending on the manufacturer
As different brands use different designs and cuts when manufacturing their gloves, they can also vary in size. This is because there is no standardisation for glove sizes - they are purely used as a guideline for manufacturers. This size variation can be around half a size but is usually relatively little.
