Michael Jordan reached 25,000 career points with the last of his 35 points tonight as the Chicago Bulls defeated San Antonio, 97-88, before a crowd of 37,058 -- the largest in Spurs history.
Jordan needed exactly 35 points to reach 25,000 -- and he knew it. After hitting a 3-pointer to give him 33, Jordan smiled and let his teammates know he wanted the ball on the next possession.
Jordan missed his next four shots, but he hit a baseline jumper with 29.4 seconds remaining to reach the mark.
Jordan's heroics and the workmanlike job of Bill Wennington helped lead the Bulls past the inspired Spurs. Jordan finished with 35 points on 14-of-35 shooting and 9 rebounds. Wennington scored 18 and Scottie Pippen added 20.
