LG may have announced its plans to shut down its smartphone business, but just like any electronics manufacturing company, it still has several recently released smartphones that are still eligible for hardware and software support. LG customers will be happy to know that the company has said it will continue to update these devices.

The company said in a press release issued earlier today, that its phones will continue to receive software updates, which will depend on the region they were released in. This includes the Android 11 update, which the company is still in the process of preparing for release for some devices, according to additional information on the company's Korean website as spotted by XDA.
LG also says that it will provide Android 12 updates to a few of its smartphones, the report states โ but that doesn't necessarily mean that these updates will come on time. LG is known to release updates later than most Android manufacturers, and users who own the company's smartphones should not get their hopes up โ according to the report, the company has said that these Android 12 plans might change based on Google's distribution schedule and the performance of each device while testing the update.

The company seems to be focusing on rolling out the Android 11 update for its devices for now, with the LG G7 One being the latest device to receive the update. It is worth noting that so far the only other devices to receive Android 11 are the LG Velvet and the LG V60 Thinq. Meanwhile, manufacturers like Samsung and Xiaomi are currently leading the pack in terms of updates, with Android 11, having updated most of their scheduled devices to the latest version of Android.
