Former Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift had a breakout performance on Thursday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings.
Swift was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2023 NFL Draft, after it was clear Detroit's front office was pivoting to Alabama Crimson Tide running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
In his first appearance in front of the hometown crowd, Swift recorded 28 carries for 175 rushing yards and a touchdown.
"It's a blessing," said Swift, following the Eagles' 34-28 win. "Especially, home opener, first game playing in the stadium, just thank God."

The Eagles' coaching staff and many members of the offense noted how effective the team was rushing the football against Detroit's NFC North rival.
"He just showed vision, explosiveness. I thought the offensive line did a phenomenal job of pushing them off the ball," said Eagles coach Nick Sirianni. "So, I was really pleased he protected the ball. That was a lot of touches, too. Not only pleased with how he saw it and how he hit it, but also thought he protected the ball. Especially, when they are coming after it in situations at the end of the game like that."
Naturally, many Lions supporters on social media began to discuss Swift's performance.
Many were happy to see the talented running back succeed, but a few murmured that potentially the Lions gave up on Swift too soon.
The popular opinion expressed was to dismiss the performance, indicating that Detroit could not count on Swift to ever stay healthy during his tenure in Motown.
Here is a sample of the reaction online to Swift's stellar performance.
