Justin Hebert’s jersey was among the best sellers in the NFL
The demand for top name NFL jerseys will continue to rise in 2022. This is the finding of market analysts, who predicted that by 2021, sales of officially licensed NFL jerseys will cross over $2 billion dollars worldwide.
What factors influenced the amount of NFL jerseys sold in 2021?
The main reason people spend money on NFL jerseys is because of pride. Other factors that may influence the amount of NFL jerseys sold include the team’s success, the player’s popularity, and the price of the jersey. The NFL needs its top stars to keep performing, which sells jerseys.
Spending money on sport is a cost opportunity exercise. The global pandemic hit the travel industry. Instead of spending a copious amount of cash heading to Disney, people have found other ways of spending their money. I like the fact jerseys don't change every season, unlike in soccer.
Top-selling NFL jerseys: Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Justin Herbert led jersey sales in 2021
Sample data from three websites all led to Tom Brady's jersey as the number one bestseller. Justin Herbert featured in all three data samples as a best seller. So much for a lack of Chargers across the US, and beyond.
Interestingly, Fanatics released their data, with Herbert's jerseys ranking at No.6. Embarrassingly, I don't own No.10's jersey, although I added Bosa's powder blue, and James' royal blue to my collection.
We know the Chargers have the best uniforms in sport, but don't take my word for it. The Bolts have a range of ridiculously delightful jerseys. Joe Rivera, writing for Sporting News, ranked the Chargers as the No.1 jersey. Who can argue with powder blue and white pants (or yellow).
In 2021, NFL jerseys were reported to have brought in over $2 billion in revenue. Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Justin Herbert led in jersey sales, and the NFL will need their top stars to keep performing in order to continue this trend. The Chargers have the best uniforms in all of sports, and this is surely a contributing factor in their high jersey sales.
