Is getting nominated for the NSLS a big deal? ›

Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. In addition to this honorable distinction, the NSLS provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills through participation at their campus or online.

The NSLS sets you up for success after college by preparing you with the tools and resources you need to help land your dream job. Boost your resume by getting leadership certification to help you stand out among your peers. Apply to jobs/internships and get exclusive access to employers seeking to hire NSLS members.

We are the only accredited honor society in the nation. Because of this prestige, membership to the NSLS can be a huge differentiator between you and other applicants. In fact, some employers actively seek to hire members of the NSLS.

Nationally, less than 20 percent of the campus population receive an invitation to join the NSLS, while ACHS honor society standards include 20-35 percent of campus populations.

It is NOT a Greek organization like a fraternity or sorority, it is an honor society. There are NO academic standards or requirements to maintain membership in NSLS. The 2.5 GPA serves as a baseline to identify potential members.

You may terminate your membership at any time, for any reason, by tendering written notice to the NSLS.

What is the dress code? While this event is virtual, we recommend either NSLS swag or business casual attire as you have the option to participate with your camera on during certain sessions. I can no longer attend. Is my registration transferrable?

The NSLS Foundation Scholarship and Awards Program supports members for their desire to make a difference, leadership growth, service, member excellence, and financial need. As a member, you can apply for the following awards and grants: Mission-Based Scholarships and Grants. Need-Based Scholarship and Grants.

What is NSLS honors membership? ›

As a member of the NSLS, you're part of a community of goal-oriented people with access to professional leadership training, exclusive scholarships, an online job bank, networking events, a celebrity speaker series, enhancement of your professional resume, and more. #1. Leadership Honor. Society in the U.S. 2+

Students are selected by their college for membership based on academic standing or leadership potential. Less than five percent of students nationwide receive nominations.

To become inducted into the NSLS, a student must first be nominated by their school. If their campus does not have an NSLS chapter they can self-nominate through the website. To qualify for nomination, students must hold a 3.0 GPA and receive a recommendation from at least one faculty member (three is recommended).

Members must have completed 12 semester hours of Associate degree coursework with a 2.50 - 3.49 GPA and be in good academic standing. Membership is by invitation only. The NSLS is the largest leadership honor society in the United States.

*Presidential Level Members - Students that have a 3.3 gpa upon joining are considered presidential level members and will receive a Presidential seal on their membership certificate as well as a personalized letter from the National President.
