Before we start a project, you probably want to know how much it could cost. We understand that, and that’s why we will work with you and your budget to create a project brief to outline the objective and how to accomplish your vision. It’s most often the first step in our process, especially if we’re just getting to know each other.
Simply fill out our contact form, providing us with as much detail as you currently have about the customized products and merchandise you’d like to create. If you don’t have all the details or don’t yet have an exact product in mind, that’s fine. Just give us any ideas you have, and we can help you work through other specifics.
2. Design Your Project
The next step in our process is one of the most exciting parts; designing!
Our skilled team will work within your branding standards, using a logo or graphics you provide, if you have them. We’ll never deviate from your brand style, ensuring all of the products you order are speaking the same brand language and maintaining brand consistency.
Don’t have a design yet? No problem—we have an amazing team of in-house graphic designers who can work with you, incorporating your preferences and style choices every step of the way. Our designers will make sure you have a final image you’re proud to share with the world.
Once a design is created, it will be sent to you for review. Nothing will be printed until we have the final okay from you on the fully finished design and quote.
3. Begin Production
Next up, production can finally begin. Once we have your approval on the design, our dedicated team jumps into action to get your customized products made. We have decades of expertise that goes into every project. We use the latest capabilities and equipment to ensure a production process that is efficient while creating high-quality items for every customer. Our broad in-house capabilities make W. S. Emerson the largest embroidery, laser appliqué, and screenprinting company north of Boston.
Because we decorate apparel and products right on site, we can be flexible for special projects and deadlines. Every project and every product gets personal attention from start to finish at W. S. Emerson; that’s what we believe in as a family-owned business for over a hundred years.

We use a combination of automatic and manual presses to create high-quality customized products with fast turnaround times. Direct Digital Printing
Direct digital printing is an eco-friendly process that uses advanced technology to print the whole color spectrum with precision. Our digital printers make even the most complex, detailed images appear on products as clearly as they would on paper. Direct digital prints last for years, and can be proudly worn or displayed for a long time.
Embroidery
Embroidery is a popular decorating technique for many garments, fabric, or cloth products—and for good reason. It looks professional, is durable, and can use an unlimited amount of colors. At W. S. Emerson we have over 100 embroidery heads operating on high-capacity machines each day, using digital files to recreate logos and designs with pinpoint accuracy.
Laser Appliqué
Laser appliqué is a design technique for decorating high-end collegiate wear and other high color contrast designs, especially those for sports teams and schools. The technique creates a textured, 3-D appearance on garments by applying layers of fabric on a garment which are then cut by a laser. Our production office has several of these machines.
Heat Applied Decoration
Heat-applied decoration, or heat sealing, is often used to customize jerseys, sweatshirts or performance wear. There are a wide variety of customization options available with this technique, so your design can include full color spectrum images that pop. Our staff can help you decide if this application method is right for your project.
