Parts of ALL 50 States Were Just Covered in Snow—Yes, Even Hawaii (2024)

Due to winter storm Inga, parts of all 50 states received sleet or snow cover on Wednesday, resulting in a weather phenomenon that hasn't happened since 2010, reports The Weather Channel.

Yes, even Hawaii had snow on the ground (specifically, on the top of the Big Island's volcanic peaks).

It's not uncommon for 49 of the 50 states to receive snow at some point, but flakes in Florida are odd—the Sunshine State hardly ever receives any snowfall. This year was an exception: Florida has actually seen snow three times this season, most recently on Wednesday.

While winter storms have run their course throughout most of the South, the Midwest, and the Northeast, on Wednesday they reached as far south as Mobile County, Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia, and Panama City and Destin, Florida.

Simultaneous snow in every state is rare, but it does happen. The last time was eight years ago, in 2010. According to NOAA Climate, meteorologists reported traces of snow in every state—even in the northwest panhandle of Florida.
