Date: 2000s to 2010s
Paul Pierce wore No. 34 starting in high school and continued the tradition while playing for the Kansas Jayhawks. He later admitted he was “thankful” the Celtics had not retired the number when he arrived in Boston. In February 2018, Pierce’s number went into the rafters of TD Garden.
