As mentioned before, August 16 is National Rum Day so I think it’s time to post at least one recipe using rum. And this Pineapple Kiss is super simple.
It’s another one of those recipes that started with a restaurant menu. I took note of the description and played with the proportions at home.
Ingredients needed? Malibu Rum (coconut flavored), orange juice, pineapple juice, and some lemon-lime soda. Nothing could be easier.
The final combination was perfect: sweet and refreshing with mild tropical flavors of pineapple and coconut. Perfect for a hot summer day, like a pineapple-flavored kiss on the shores of Maui.

Some pineapple facts
Did you know? Thepineapple(Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant with an edible fruit, also called a pineapple, and the most economically significant plant in the family Bromeliaceae. The pineapple is indigenous to South America, where it has been cultivated for many centuries. The introduction of the pineapple cultivation to Europe in the 17th century made it a significant cultural icon of luxury. Starting in the 1820s, pineapple now grows commercially in greenhouses and many tropical plantations. Further, it is the third most important tropical fruit in world production. In the 20th century, Hawaii was a dominant producer of pineapples, especially for the US; however, by 2016, Costa Rica, Brazil, and the Philippines accounted for nearly one-third of the world's production of pineapples. In the wild, Hummingbirds are the primary pollinators for pineapple. Bats also pollinate certain wild pineapples at night.Under cultivation, because seed development diminishes fruit quality, pollination is performed by hand, and seeds are retained only for breeding.(Source: Wikipedia)
Want even more random information? According to this msnbc article Grooming for Sexual Health, drinking pineapple juice might enhance your sex life. To quote: “Yes, ladies — and men too, for that matter — drinking a good sized glass of pineapple juice a couple of hours before the deed can help make your bodily fluids taste and even smell better. Fruits in general are good because they contain acids and sugars.” Definitely something I hadn’t considered before! Have an extra shot of pineapple juice in your Pineapple Kiss!
