As a hockey scout, you evaluate athletes and assess their ice hockey skills. In this career, you can work for a college hockey program or a professional hockey team. Your duties focus on identifying talented players, whether at the high school or collegiate level. To do this job, you travel to different games to observe players as they play. In addition to evaluating a player’s performance on the ice, a hockey scout may also speak with the player and interview coaches, teachers, family members. Your duties include compiling relevant information and submitting it to your team’s coaching staff or management.
