SATRA TM140: Scuff resistance - chisel method (1)

SCOPE

This method is intended to determine the resistance of a material to snagging and abrasion. The method is mainly applicable to coated or heavily finished scuff resistant footwear upper materials, but it can be used with any durable sheet material.

PRINCIPLE

A circular test specimen is rotated against a chisel of defined dimensions under a constant contact force. The test specimen is regularly assessed and the test is terminated when the damage to the specimen has reached a predefined level.
