Starbucks' Pink Stanley Cups Won't Be Restocked After Causing Chaos at Target and Reselling for $200 (2024)

The Starbucks x Stanley Quenchers were made available in Starbucks stores at Target locations on Jan. 3

Starbucks plus Stanley plus Target equaled the ultimate frenzy.

On Jan. 3, Starbucks and Stanley, the tumbler brand with an intense following, released a limited-edition, pink Quencher. The cup is only available at Starbucks stores at Target locations in the U.S., causing fans to line up outside the store and dodge massive crowds to get their hands on one.

A representative for Starbucks confirmed to PEOPLE that they are "seeing an enthusiastic response" to the release and that many stores are already sold out. "It will not be restocked," they added.

The 40 fl. oz stainless steel, vacuum-sealed tumbler retails for $49.95 — but is going for much higher on resale sites like eBay. As of Jan. 5, there are dozens of listings for the tumbler nearing $200 with multiple bids and watchers on each.

Many Target stores limited the number of cups customers could buy after there was a similar Stanley drop in a red and light pink version.

Target also saw crowds thanks to two Target-exclusive Stanley tumblers that dropped on Dec. 31. The cups, which are now sold out online and in many stores, came in Cosmo Pink and Target Red and are a part of the brand's "Galentine's Collection."

One video of the initial drop shared on TikTok by a customer in El Paso, Texas, showed a crowd of men and women running towards the tumbler at the store's center. The social media user added the caption, "Getting trampled for a Target Stanley Valentine's Cup."

The comment section contained mixed reactions, with one individual writing, "I love Stanley, but I will not do this for a cup." Another person commented, "All for a Stanley?"

The coveted Starbucks x Stanley cup was to celebrate Starbucks' winter menu, which dropped the same day on Jan. 3. It included a new permanent menu item: the Iced Shaken Hazelnut Oat Milk Espresso. With a base of blonde espresso, the beverage is shaken with hazelnut syrup and topped with oat milk.

Starbucks also re-introduced the Pistachio Latte and the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew to the winter menu for a limited time. Starbucks unveiled the drink last year. It’s made of cold brew coffee that gets sweetened with a vanilla syrup and topped with a luscious pistachio cream foam and a shower of salted brown butter sprinkles.

On the same day, the coffee company expanded the “Bring Your Own Cup” rules. Customers can now use their own personal cup (like a Stanley) at the drive-thru and for mobile orders. Previously, you could only do so in store.
