Backstory
The Warriors’ early-season struggles have been well documented, but Curry showed again Wednesday night why that blame doesn’t fall on his shoulders. His 50-point outburst marked his third time scoring 40 or more in the past five games and the 10th time this season he’s topped 30.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, the loss to Phoenix was also Curry’s sixth 50-point game since turning 30 years old, tying Michael Jordan for second-most in NBA history. Wilt Chamberlain holds the record for most such games with seven.

Curry’s scoring explosion matched his season-high for field goals made, 3-pointers made, free throws made and free throws attempted.
The Warriors will next play the Knicks on Friday before getting a chance to notch their first road win of the season in Houston on Sunday.
What they’re saying
Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed his frustration with Golden State’s effort after the loss.
“We lack collective grit,” Kerr said. “And when you don’t have grit, the game is easy for the other team. … It’s a Drew League game. We’re playing a Drew League game.”
