The role of the coach is not just coaching!
Sports coaches assist athletes in developing to their full potential.They are responsible for training athletes in a sport by analyzing theirperformances, instructing in relevant skills and by providingencouragement. But you are also responsible for the guidance of theathlete in life and their chosen sport.
Consequently, the role of the coach will be many and varied, frominstructor, assessor, friend, mentor, facilitator, chauffeur,demonstrator, adviser, supporter, fact finder, motivator, counselor,organizer, planner and the Fountain of all Knowledge.
In relation to sports, the role of the coach is to create the rightconditions for learning to happen and to find ways of motivating theathletes. Most athletes are highly motivated and therefore the task isto maintain that motivation and to generate excitement and enthusiasm.

The coach will need to be able to: assist athletes to preparetraining programs, communicate effectively with athletes, assistathletes to develop new skills, use evaluation tests to monitortraining progress and predict performance.
Therefore, you can see that it is a very difficult task and requiresa very special person.
