You think Shea Weber and Zdeno Chara can crush hockey pucks? They’ve got nothing on a hydraulic press.

In recent months, a mystery man began posting videos of things being destroyed by the compressive force machine. The Hydraulic Press Channel on YouTube has taken off in popularity and this week’s entry examines what happens to a hockey puck when it’s put under immense pressure.

“My wife really thinks that the press cannot break the hockey puck and I am very confident our press will crush this hockey puck,” the mystery man said in a thick Eastern European accent. “Let’s see.”

Let’s see indeed.

“Press wins and the hockey puck lose,” the man summarized perfectly.

Hockey pucks are made of vulcanized rubber and are designed to be extremely durable. An experiment from the University of Alabama back in 2014 showed a standard puck could withstand 80,000 pounds of pressure before it began completely breaking apart so you can imagine just how powerful this hydraulic press is.

Other items the man has crushed with his hydraulic press include: a golf ball, bubble wrap and various household appliances. Who knew watching things get smushed could be so thoroughly entertaining?
