A football thrown by a player for the Detroit Lions ran afoul and ended up hitting a referee in the face.
A referee was hit by a ball thrown by Lions running back Jamaal Williams as he was giving a penalty to the Detroit team during its game with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Unfazed by the sudden strike, the referee continued to deliver his penalty and sent the Lions 10 yards back, according to Fox News.

Williams approached the referee right after the ball struck him, appearing to apologize for the throw. Another referee came in between the two, and Williams and the other referee appeared to have a conversation, according to footage from CBS Sports.

As of Monday morning, Williams had not addressed the incident on his social media.

Sunday’s game ended with a victory for Dallas, which won the game by a score of 24-6. Detroit has had a rough time so far this season, as the team has only won one out of the six games it has played, according to ESPN.
The Lions’ next game will be held on Oct. 30 against the Miami Dolphins.
