What is floorball? Floorball is a type of indoor hockey that doesn't require any bulky equipment. All you need is a stick and a ball! (You can purchase floorball sticks and equipment in our online store.) Here's a little floorball introduction!

Known as "innebandy" in Sweden, "salibandy" in Finland, and "unihockey" in other parts of Europe, "floorball" is the official International Floorball Federation (IFF) term which is used worldwide. Common misspellings include floor ball, florbol, and florbal.

In official floorball competition, teams play 5 v 5 with goalies just like in ice hockey and the games consist of three 20-minute periods. However, floorball is extremely versatile. At the recreational level, games can be played with any number of players on any size court (indoors or outside) for any length of time.

A regulation floorball court is 20 meters by 40 meters (65 feet x 130 feet). The boards surrounding the court are usually made of heavy duty plastic, composites or high density foam that measure 50 cm high (about 20 inches). While floorball is similar to ball or floor hockey, it is faster and safer because of the unique rules and the lightweight equipment. The emphasis is on speed and skill rather than strength.
