"R-ratings require a parent or adult guardian to be present in order to view the film. An R-rated film "may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously.""
But nothing about R+ . What more there is to R+?

Well look for example at the 11eyes OVA it says R+ - Mild Nudity. So it is rated R+ for Mild Nudity.

It is rated higher then R, that is all that it means or at least at the very end of R.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong though as it's primarily just an educated guess.

Well, Rx is Hentai, and I believe R+ means that there is nudity. R has gore, language, etc but I believe anime rated "R", and not "R+" or "Rx", contain no nudity.

Yea that should be the case, makes sense.

I've also noticed that, say, compared to an American movie, the ratings are way more harsh. Most of the anime I see I consider PG-13 or R but a crap load of them are rated R+, R, or Rx.
There are a few that certainly deserve the higher rating like Another and When they cry (can't be bothered to look up how to spell Higurgashi right now) but some ratings have really surprised me.

I'm not even sure the ratings here are official ratings. For example: on here it says Evangelion 1.0/2.0 are rated R, but my blu-rays say TV14 on the box.

Viralz has a good handle on why things are rated as they are.

For an example of nudity with a pg-13 rating, I'm currently watching read or die the series, and there is an episode with full out boob/nipple shots, but since it's only one (so far), I suppose it was deemed as insignificant?
