I’m a total beginner, but honestly that’s part of the fun! There really is something about finding joy in starting a new sport or activity. It gives me something to work towards and learn! In addition to Pickleball being FUN, the outfit options are adorable!
Priorities, right?! I enjoy picking out my outfit almost as much as I do playing. Any breathable, quick dry activewear and comfortable sneakers will do, but I tend to style my outfits according to the weather! And anything you wear for pickleball can also be worn for other sports/workouts and casual athleisure…
When I started playing back in March it was chilly so I wore leggings, a tank, and a light long sleeve layer or jacket/pullover (until I warmed up). As the weather warms up I’m loving the comfort and style of active dresses and skirts with built in shorts underneath! And don’t forget a sports bra, hat or visor, and sunnies. Other things to consider are: activewear with sun protection built into the fabric and applying sunscreen before you play to protect your skin!
Favorite pieces to wear for pickleball…
Active Tennis/Golf Dresses-
So comfortable and breezy, especially if they have shorts built in! I have a few from Outdoor Voices that I love and also a one shoulder style from Amazon (with a built in shelf bra and comes with detached bike shorts)that’s perfect for pickleball. I just got this style from Abercrombie that I’m excited about. I wear these versatile dresses casually in the summer with sandals or sneakers, too.
Tank/Polo/Short Sleeve Top-
Breathable fabric is key! To keep it simple I like tanks with a built in sports bra and removable cups. But loose or fitted tanks/tops and polos are also great with a fave sports bra layered underneath.
Skorts/Skirts –
I tend to choose skirts and skirts over shorts, but that’s just personal preference! There are SO many cute styles at all price points to choose from and they also look great styled casually off the court.
Light Long Sleeve Layers –
Perfect for cooler climates and to/from or inside chilly air conditioned restaurants and clubhouses! I’m a big fan of lululemon swiftly long sleeve tops. They’re super lightweight and come in a nice waist “race length” that looks great with skirts and also a longer length.
Paddles and Bags-
I bought a basic beginner set to start but now that I know I love it I’m eyeing the more fashion forward paddles and bags!
