On this day in 2011 Manchester United demolished Arsenal 8-2 at Old Trafford thanks in part to a Wayne Rooney hat-trick.
It was the first time Arsenal had conceded eight goals in a league game since 1896 and was, unsurprisingly, their worst ever defeat against United.
United scored eight for the first time since 1999 when they beat Nottingham Forest 8-1, with four goals that day coming from the current manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 20-year-old Spaniard had been criticised in the build up to the match after making errors in his first two games for the club following his move from Atletico Madrid that transfer window.
But saving a penalty from Van Persie early on helped fans forget his poor form even though he was at fault for Arsenal's first goal with his weak attempt at stopping Theo Walcott's tame strike just before half time.
Despite nearly moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2015, De Gea is still at the club and is understood to have verbally agreed a new six-year contract.
Chris Smalling
Smalling played in an unnatural right-back position against Arsenal whilst Jonny Evans and Phil Jones made up the centre of defence.
He is still at the club today and has made 206 appearances for United in the Premier League.
Phil Jones
Jones moved from Blackburn Rovers to United in the summer of 2011 and made his second Premier League start for the club in the game against Arsenal.
He is still at United today and has made 163 appearances for them in the Premier League.
Jonny Evans
Evans played 29 games during the 2011/2012 season after becoming the club's new number six when Wes Brown switched to Sunderland.
He nearly joined Manchester City in the summer of 2017, but West Brom turned down two bids for the Northern Ireland international. The 31-year-old currently plays for Leicester in the Premier League.
Patrice Evra
Evra served as captain on this day with Nemanja Vidic out injured. He was an integral part of the team for nine years, with United struggling to adequately replace him after he left for Juventus in 2014.
He joined Marseille in 2017 and West Ham in 2018 but has since retired at the age of 38.
Nani
Nani scored his first goal of the season in the 67th minute with an audacious dink over Wojciech Szczęsny in the Arsenal goal.
The Portuguese international was at the club from 2007 to 2015. He is now at Orlando City in the MLS after spending last season back at Sporting, who he originally moved to United from.
Tom Cleverley
Cleverley impressed on loan at Wigan Athletic the season before and became a regular starter at United during the 2011/2012 season.
He stayed at the club until 2015, when he moved to Everton after spending the previous season at Aston Villa on loan. The 30-year-old is now playing at Watford after moving from Merseyside in the summer of 2017.
Anderson
The former FIFA Golden Boy winner was a favourite of Sir Alex Ferguson, winning four Premier Leagues, one Champions League and one Super Cup during his time at Old Trafford.
He left the club in February 2015 for Brazillian team Internacional after falling out of favour with the new manager, David Moyes. He then departed for Turkish side Adana Demirspor in the summer of 2018 and the 31-year-old is still playing for them today.
Ashley Young
Young scored two identical screamers that day playing on the left-wing and cutting on to his right foot to curl the ball into the top left corner.
He is still at the club, now serving as captain, but primarily playing at left-back. He has a contract until 2020, meaning this year might be the 34-year-old's last as a player at United.
Wayne Rooney
Rooney scored a hat-trick of set-pieces that day, converting two free-kicks and a penalty. This was one of seven hat-tricks Rooney got in the Premier League.
He returned to his first club Everton in 2017, having become United and England's all-time record goalscorer.
He is currently playing for DC United in the MLS but will be switching to the Championship's Derby County in January to take on a position as player/coach.
Danny Welbeck
Welbeck got the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute with a smart header but was replaced by Javier Hernandez 13 minutes later after picking up an injury.
The 28-year-old left United to join Arsenal in the summer of 2014, but after long-term injuries stunted his performances he left the Gunners for Watford on a free during this summer's transfer window.
