Why does table salt turn yellow when its old? - ECHEMI.com (2024)

Plain salt, Sea salt, kosher salt, Himalayan salt, and black salt don’t turn yellow.

Only iodized salt yellows. If your salt turns yellow and you find it aesthetically unappealing, then change the salt or get one of the uniodized salts.

Yellow salt won’t hurt you if you eat it but if your salt gets that old, consider a salt free diet as you aren’t using much as it is.
