Fashion Design students get creative with garment embellishments

Students in the Fashion Design programturned their creative skills to creating embellishments for garments, with a wonderful range of creations on show for all their hard work. The fine detail and work covered techniques in beading, embroidery, and lacework, with students learning how they may consider and apply their embellishment choices to their fashion pieces.Embellishments are an important part of fashion, andcan add value and interest to a garment or textile. The type of embellishment is also important, as the design, weight, style and fabric need to work together to enhance the overall look. From a subtle lift to a striking statement, a well-chosen and individually piecedembellishment can give life and personality to a design, making it the unique creation of afashion designer!

The Fashion Design program at Wodonga TAFE includesCertificate III in Clothing and Textile Production, and the Certificate IV in Clothing Production.

Complete Certificate III in Clothing and Textile Production to buildthe basics where you will gain the skills and knowledge for your start in the vibrant fashion and clothing industry. You will learn pattern construction, illustration, and garment construction using a variety of materials and techniques by studying aspects of the fashion design process. This course covers ideas and concept building, right through to completed garments. Build a solid skill base and gain practical experience using industry-standard equipment and technology in our fashion studio. Turn your love of fashion and clothes into creating your pathway to a fashion design career, or gain extra skills to design and make your own garments and textiles to show off your individual style and flair!

Complete Certificate IV in Clothing and Production if you already have sewing and pattern-construction skills and would like to take them to the next level. Thisis the perfect course for you to step up and extend your expertise. This advanced program will enable you to further develop your skills in fashion design and clothing production across the fashion industry. Within this course you will learn more in-depth facets of fashion design, and look at fashion trends through forecasting and developing a collection to showcase at our end of year exhibition. You will gain extensive practical experience using the latest in industry-standard equipment and technology to work with fabric and fashion in our light-filled fashion studio! Become confident in your creativity and individual style while you develop advanced skills and knowledge for your career in the exciting fashion and clothing industry.
