Yankee Stadium, Citi Field Will Seat Fans by Vaccine Status (2024)

New York City’s MLB teams will have separate seating sections for vaccinated and unvaccinated fans beginning May 19, New York governor Andrew Cuomo has announced. At that time, the Yankees and Mets will no longer require fans to submit negative COVID-19 tests to attend games.

Vaccinated seating at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field will be open at full capacity and have no social distancing rules; the unvaccinated sections will be limited to 33% capacity. Fans can show proof of their vaccination though their paper vaccination record card or a digital app such as New York State’s Excelsior Pass.

It is not yet clear whether the ballparks will also divide other locations such as parking, concessions, team stores, and restrooms based on vaccination status. All fans will be required to wear masks during games.

Also beginning May 19, fans at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium will be able to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on-site during games. Attendees who get vaccinated at either ballpark will receive a free ticket to a future game.
