Can I get a refund for a non-refundable Airbnb booking?
A non-refundable option is a discount that lets you book at a lower price but can't be canceled for a full refund unless your reservation is impacted by a Major Disruptive Event.
The main difference between a non-refundable and refundable reservation on Airbnb lies in the cancellation policy. A non-refundable reservation means that if the guest decides to cancel, they won't receive a refund, regardless of when they cancel.
If your booking is non-refundable, you can't cancel or make changes. If your booking is free cancellation or partially refundable, check your confirmation email or the confirmation page under the "Bookings" section of your account for the cancellation fees.
Guests must report Reservation Issues within 72 hours after discovery. If we determine that a Reservation Issue has disrupted a guest's stay we'll give the guest a full or partial refund, or help the guest find a similar place, depending on availability at comparable pricing.
If they accept your request, your refund will be sent to the payment method you used when you booked the reservation. If your Host declines or doesn't respond, you can ask Airbnb to step in to help. Gather evidence: If possible, take photos or videos to document issues like a missing or broken amenity.
We recommend discussing any refund amounts with your Host through your Airbnb message thread before submitting a request in the Resolution Centre. However, if you and your Host aren't able to come to an agreement, you'll have the option to ask Airbnb for help finding a solution.
While they are issued almost immediately, most refunds arrive within 15 days, but for some payment methods and regions, it might take longer.
Some nonrefundable fares can be canceled or changed for a partial refund in the form of an airline flight voucher, but rarely can you receive cash or credit card reimbursement for a canceled nonrefundable fare.
Cancellation fees
If the reservation is canceled 48 hours or less before check-in, or after check-in, the fee is 50% of the reservation amount for the nights not stayed. If the reservation is canceled anytime between 48 hours and 30 days before check-in, the fee is 25% of the reservation amount.
Sometimes you're entitled to a full refund (although you can't always expect all of your money back if you change your mind). Don't just accept that advance payments, including large deposits that may be described as 'non-refundable' can be kept by a business.
What do I say to Airbnb to get a refund?
Need to request a refund before or after a trip or Experience? First, discuss the amount with your Host in the message thread, and if they agree, go to the Resolution Center to request money. If they don't agree to the amount within 72 hours, reach out to us for help mediating.
It can also relate to home appliances that don't function as they should or are broken. Airbnb property is not safe or clean. If a guest arrives and finds that the property has not been cleaned (dirty sheets, rubbish lying around), they have a right to request a refund.

Understanding Airbnb's Cancellation Policies
Flexible: Guests can cancel up to 24 hours before check-in for a full refund. Moderate: Guests must cancel at least five days before check-in to receive a full refund. Firm: Full refund if canceled 30 days before check-in — partial refund for shorter notice.
A non-refundable option is a discount that lets you book at a lower price but can't be canceled for a full refund unless your reservation is impacted by a Major Disruptive Event. Hosts can offer it on top of other discounts like monthly or weekly discounts.
Issues must be reported to Airbnb with 72 hours of discovery to be eligible under our Re-booking and Refund Policy. Note: You have up to 60 days after your reservation's checkout date to submit a Resolution Centre request.

Ask for a refund: If you need to request a refund because of the issue, there's a higher chance your host will accept your request if you can agree on an amount first. Send a request to your host for the refund in the Resolution Center and provide the details of the issue along with the photos or video.
Do you have a dispute with Airbnb over a refund, rental, or overcharges? You have several options, including suing Airbnb in small claims court.
Travelers should use Airbnb's resolution center to submit a claim within 60 days of checkout. Through this process, you can request money for incidents related to your Airbnb trip. If you and the host aren't able to come to an agreement within 72 hours, there is an option for Airbnb to mediate the claim.
Can Airbnb hosts give refunds?
If something gets in the way of your guest's good time, you can send them a refund (minus the service fee) during or after their stay. We'll notify them right away, and process the refund within 48 hours. Once you send the money, the transaction is considered final.
First, check the status of your request. If the Host has already accepted it, then it's subject to their cancellation policy. If it's still pending, you can cancel, and you won't be charged for the reservation or the service fees.
If you have a Non Refundable booking type and you cancel it, the property may still charge in full in line with the conditions of this rate type.
If the seller breaches the terms of the contract and is refusing to refund your deposit agreed, you can: Contact your card provider and request them to reverse the transaction (known as chargeback), if you paid the deposit by credit or debit card. Take a claim against the seller using the small claims procedure.
Non-refundable tickets: A non-refundable ticket might still allow you to make changes but this can have a fee attached to it. This fee is dependent on the airline and fare rules related to your ticket.
