How many times can you play triple captain?
One can only use the triple captain chip once per season, therefore using it at the perfect time is immensely important.
Playing the Triple Captain chip triples your Fantasy Premier League captain's points, rather than doubling them. You can only use it once per season. If Mohamed Salah scores 16 points as his base score, he would earn 32 points as your captain.
Triple captain is where you choose one game week where your captain scores triple points instead of the usual double points.
The triple captain
This chip gives your captain treble the number of points they score in a gameweek instead of double. Again, the best time to use this is in a double gameweek as, by picking a player who will feature in two matches, you get two bites of the cherry rather than one.
The "Free Hit" chip sits alongside the Wildcard, the Triple Captain and Bench Boost in Fantasy Premier League. A Free Hit allows for unlimited transfers in a single Gameweek. It can usually only be taken once a season.
No, only one chip can be active at one time, so you can't play both Wildcard and Triple Captain in one gameweek.
Remember only one chip can be used per gameweek. The Triple Captain is best to be used on a premium player with two favourable Double Gameweek fixtures. A Free Hit can be useful in either a blank or a double gameweek, particularly if we see a blank gameweek where key highly owned premium players are without a fixture.
Triple Captain: Each week, you'll choose a captain for your FPL side, with their points tally doubling for that week. With the Triple Captain chip, which can be used once per season on a single player in a single gameweek, your captain's score will be tripled instead.
Bench Boost in Fantasy Premier League is a great opportunity to maximise your points on a given gameweek. Like the other chips in FPL, the timing of the Bench Boost will determine how successful its deployment turns out to be. A Bench Boost can only be played once during a season, and is only active for one gameweek.
Can I use more than one chip in the same Gameweek? No, only one chip may be active in a Gameweek. For example, it is not possible to make transfers with your Wildcard chip and then use your Bench Boost chip in the same Gameweek.
Does triple captain affect vice captain?
Yes. If you play your triple captain chip, your vice captain's points will also be tripled, provided your captain doesn't play. Again, I always recommend choosing your vice captain from a different fixture than the one your captain is playing in, and this is 33% more important when using your triple captain chip.
You can change your captain an unlimited number of times between unlocked players (i.e. between two players who have both not played in the current Matchday).
A free hit in fantasy football parlance is a chip or move available to players which allows unlimited free transfers for a single gameweek. It is similar to the wildcard, but the transfers only remain in effect for one gameweek. The following gameweek, a player's squad returns to how it was before the free hit.
In the 2021/22 season, FPL gave managers two Free Hits due to unprecedented fixture disruption. In 2022/23, the situation has reverted to normal and fantasy managers will have just the one Free Hit. Just like a Wildcard, you can make unlimited changes to your squad.
Only one chip may be active in a Gameweek (please note, a Wildcard counts as a chip too). For example, it is not possible to make transfers with your Free Hit Chip and then use your Bench Boost Chip in the same Gameweek.
The Free Hit is one of your chips, alongside the Wildcard, the Triple Captain and Bench Boost. You can use it once a season to make unlimited transfers to your 15-man squad and like the Wildcard, the Free Hit is used when confirming transfers. It cannot be cancelled once confirmed.
Playing a wildcard will remove any points deductions from transfers already made in the same Gameweek. When using a wildcard, you must remain within your current budget. There is no unlimited budget when using a wildcard. The Wildcard chip can be used twice a season.
A Wildcard allows you to make unlimited changes to your team without incurring any point hits. All FPL managers are given one free transfer per week and two free transfers if you 'roll over' a transfer.
Once the manager decides to opt for the wildcard, it cannot be cancelled. All the saved transfers are also lost and the user gets back to one free transfer from the next game week.
Captain Changes
Just like transfers, you can make this alteration for any match day, thus giving you the opportunity to score double points from two of your players over the duration of the Game week.
Can you use 2 chips in Gameweek?
Only one chip can be played in a single Gameweek. The Wildcard chip can be used twice a season. The first Wildcard will be available from the start of the season and can be played at any point before the Gameweek 16 deadline.
Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 3 Captain Picks
Salah tops the projected points return and Kane is close behind missing out by just 0.1. kdb and Haaland also have a points projection of 6.0 plus.
Triple captain
As with the Bench Boost, this can only be used once a season, so make sure you activate your Triple Captain chip for when your star attacker is facing out-of-form opposition. If your Triple Captain is absent, the triple points bonus will be passed to your vice-captain.
Traditionally, FPL managers are given two wildcards in a season: one to be played in its first half and the other to be used in the second half.
A Successful Bench Boost
Naturally, there is no formal answer but it seems widely accepted that anything over 20 points is a very decent return.
FPL: How a Bench Boost works in Fantasy Premier League
While many FPL players simply pick a few low-value subs who won't get a game all season – such as third-choice goalkeepers or youth players – the Bench Boost rewards those who have chosen players who still score points.
Remember that the Bench Boost converts your benched players into point-scoring players, so you're effectively playing with a 15-man team rather than an 11-man squad. When your benched players play twice, your chances of getting high points from them are doubled.
It can also be effective to try and time your wildcard with your bench boost. The idea being that you play your wild card two weeks before the double game week, to get as many players in that are playing twice. Then activate your bench boost on the week of the double game week.
Selecting a Captain and a Vice-Captain
If both captain and vice-captain play 0 minutes in a Gameweek, then no player's score will be doubled.
If neither your captain nor your vice-captain play (perhaps they were both due to participate in a postponed match), you'll receive zero points from both players.
Is vice-captain a thing?
Noun. (sports) A player who takes on the responsibilities of captain when the captain is not playing.
So it's not surprising that fantasy players might wonder if they should tip their hard working league commissioner, especially after winning a league prize. The short answer to this is “No”.
Does vice captain get extra points in FPL? In the event your captain does NOT play any minutes your vice captain automatically receives double points.
Two-quarterback is a catch-all for, you guessed it, any league where you can start two quarterbacks each week. In a 2QB league, you must start two each week. In a Superflex league, only one QB must start, and your second QB spot allows you to flex any other skill position.
2 of the playing conditions is clear: "For any free hit, the striker can be dismissed only under the circ*mstances that apply for a no ball". In other words, the only way a batter can get out on a free hit is either by being run out, for obstructing the field, or hitting the ball twice.
If you've already made transfers for the upcoming gameweek, and you then activate the free hit chip, those will just be included within your free hit squad. If you've taken any hits prior to activating the chip, the points will be restored.
On FPL you can only use 1 chip including your wildcard on any 1 Game week. So you can't use your Free Hit at the same time as anything else. This is another big reason why it makes more sense to use it on a week of blanks rather than a Double Game Week.
Like the other chips in FPL, the timing of the Bench Boost will determine how successful its deployment turns out to be. A Bench Boost can only be played once during a season, and is only active for one gameweek.
The Bench Boost and Triple Captain chips can each be used once a season and are played when saving your team on the my team page. They can be cancelled at any time before the Gameweek deadline. The Free Hit chip can be used only once and is played when confirming your transfers and can't be cancelled after confirmed.
The Triple Captain chip is self-explanatory: for one week only, your captain's points are not doubled but tripled. You can cancel your Triple Captain at any time before the gameweek deadline.
Can you play both Free Hit and bench boost?
No, only one chip may be active in a Gameweek. For example, it is not possible to make transfers with your Wildcard chip and then use your Bench Boost chip in the same Gameweek.
However, there are some limitations. Firstly, if managers play their wildcard, it prevents them playing their Triple Captain or Bench Boost chips, which can be really useful in a double gameweek, as you can only play one chip a week.
