The Tacks began as a boot designed by shoemaker George Tackaberry in 1905 after Hall of Famer Joe Hall felt the boot of his skate wasn't good enough and went to Tackaberry to design a better one. CCM got the Tackaberry name when the shoemaker died in 1937 and started putting out the Tacks line of skates.
The NHL had partnered with Reebok for over a decade before switching to Adidas in 2017 and the news to terminate the existing deal will bring an end to nearly 20 years of Reebok/Adidas uniforms and designs for the National Hockey League as the German brand looks to exit the sport.
