Do you get fined for wearing a tinted visor in the NFL?
Go to any NFL practice and it shouldn't come as a surprise. Most players can be seen wearing slightly tinted or clear visors. In fact, while see through visors are allowed in games, their tinted and darkened counterparts are banned by the league and only permitted for a few players with rare medical exemptions.

If a player suffers from migraines or is sensitive to sunlight, he'll need a medical exemption to put a tinted visor on his helmet as a replacement for the permitted clear visor.
In 1998, the league banned dark colored visors because medical personnel could not see a player's eyes once they attended to him on the field when an injury would occur, especially if the player was knocked out or concussed.

A cup is not required as an item of equipment in football. It's optional, just like rib guards or knee stockings. Every player is solely responsible for determining whether or not they require a cup; the referee will not check whether or not a player is wearing one before a match.

Because a photochromic visor cannot meet the BS standard, nor the ECE standard they are technically unlawful to use.
For example, a tinted/mirrored visor is only illegal when being used. Therefore, having a mirrored visor fitted to your helmet in the raised position is perfectly legal but once lowered, you're (technically) breaking the law (conspicuously so at night).
