Has a 1 and 6 team ever made the playoffs?
1970 Cincinnati Bengals
Only one time in league history has a team made the playoffs after starting 1-6, and that was the 1970 Cincinnati Bengals. The Lions have the NFL's longest streak of games with at least one takeaway (13) and they're tied for sixth with a +4 turnover differential.
One of the five teams since 2002 that missed the playoffs after a 6-1 start was the 2003 Vikings. That group opened the season with six consecutive wins before losing its next four and then two of its next five.
Best of NFL Nation
In the Super Bowl era, there have been 191 teams that started 2-6, and only three qualified for the playoffs: the 2022 Jaguars, 2020 Commanders and 1970 Bengals.
The Miami Dolphins, winners of seven straight, are a prime example. No team has ever made the postseason after starting 1-7, which the Dolphins did; nor has any team ever had a seven-game losing streak and a seven-game winning streak in the same season.
While a team that started 1-5 has never won a Super Bowl, three of those clubs have made the playoffs.
Of the 103 teams to start 0-4, a single club made the postseason. Only the 1992 San Diego Chargers began 0-4 and made the playoffs, finishing 11-5 and losing in the Divisional Round.
The 2007 New England Patriots famously went 16-0 in the regular season before being upset by the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII. The 2015 Carolina Panthers nearly had a perfect regular season, going 14-0 before dropping their Week 16 contest.
Chicago Has Never Hosted a Super Bowl.
As Bois explains in the video, there is one situation where a 6-1 score is possible. Team A would need to score a touchdown to break a scoreless tie. On the ensuing PAT attempt, if Team B gets a safety, it would be awarded one point as opposed to the usual two points for a safety since it came on a conversion attempt.
Who has the longest Super Bowl drought?
1. Arizona Cardinals, 76 years. The Cardinals have never won a Super Bowl but they did win the 1947 NFL championship, giving the the longest championship drought in all North American Sports at 76 years.
The longest drought since a championship of any kind is that of the Cardinals, at 76 seasons.
Chicago's lone victory leaves Carolina as the last team in the NFL without a win in the 2023 season. The Panthers have lost all four of their games this year in unenthusiastic fashion with an inept offense that ranks 24th in scoring and outside of the top 20 in virtually every offensive category.
Only the 1993 Dallas Cowboys, 2001 New England Patriots and 2007 Giants won a Super Bowl after starting 0-2.
Lions (8-8). If the Lions make the playoffs, it would actually be more impressive than the other two teams above and that's because Detroit actually started 1-6. Only one team in NFL history has rebounded from a 1-6 start to make the postseason and that's the 1970 Bengals.
And as it turns out, all 32 active NFL teams have qualified for and even won a game in the playoffs. There are only three teams that have not made it to double figures in playoff appearances, namely, the Carolina Panthers (8), the Jacksonville Jaguars (7) and the Houston Texans (6).
Finally, a team that started with a 2-7 record will make the playoffs. That has never happened since the first Super Bowl season in 1966-67. In all those years, the worst starting record for a playoff team was 3-6. It happened for the first time in 1970 with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Patriots suffered a similar fate in 2008 when they finished 11-5 and missed the playoffs while the 8-8 San Diego Chargers won the AFC West.
Though factors such as a low population can contribute to the lack of teams in certain states, places like Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Virginia, and Kentucky are examples of states with an impressive population but still no teams in the NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL.

The '72 Dolphins finished with the NFL's first and only perfect season, winning Super Bowl VII after going 14-0 in the regular season, but the Tom Brady-led Patriots lost Super Bowl XLII despite going 16-0 in the regular season.
Has an 0 3 team ever made the Super Bowl?
Six teams since 1979 have made the playoffs after an 0-3 start. Of the 158 teams that started 0-3 between 1990-2022, four managed to get into the postseason. Only one 0-3 team has won a playoff game, and no such team has reached the Super Bowl.
1995 San Diego Chargers
Three years after becoming the first 0-4 team to qualify for the playoffs, the Chargers became the first to start 4-7 and get in. Coming off its lone Super Bowl bid, San Diego could not match its previous form. But the Bolts won their final five games. That was sufficient to secure the AFC's No.
