How should a hockey goalie glove fit?
The goalie's fingers need to wrap far enough around the break of the glove so that the he or she has the leverage to close the glove. As a guideline, we recommend no more than 1/2 inch of space between the tip of the goalie's finger and the end of the finger stall in the catch glove.

How to Size a Goalie Stick - YouTube
Goalie gloves should be 1" to 1.5" Inches longer than the fingers, the reason for this is that goalies want to put as big a hand as possible in front of the ball, so longer glove fingers means it's easier to block the ball.
Size 5 gloves are for children of about nine years of age, while sizes 6 and 7 are for larger children aged between nine and twelve. Sizes 7.5-8 are for juniors of 13 or more years.
- Measure around the hand at the fullest part (exclude thumb)
- Measure from the tip of the middle finger to the base of the hand.
- Use the largest of these two measurements for the correct size glove.
- If you are right handed, take measurements from your right hand.
- If you are left handed, take measurements from your left hand.
Properly sizing your hockey gloves will keep your hands protected without hindering the dexterity and mobility you need to handle your stick. The ideal fit will be comfortable but not too tight. For maximum comfort, your fingertips should lie between ¼” and a ½” from the end of the hockey gloves.
