Wrap a measuring tape around your dominant hand just below knuckles, excluding your thumb, and make a fist. This measurement is your 'hand width' glove size.
Lay your dominant hand flat, fingers together, palm facing upwards. Wrap the measuring tape around your palm, just below the knuckles, not including the thumb. Glove size should be measured in inches. Round up to the nearest half inch.
Choosing the right glove size is essential for maximum efficiency and hand protection. Indeed, if the size is too big, the glove risks slipping; the user will then lose his grip capacity (grasping an object between his fingers) and dexterity (flexibility and precision of manipulation).
If you are measuring your fit for a baseball glove, measure from the tip of your index finger down to your wrist. This number, in inches, corresponds to the listed size of the glove.
Should latex gloves be tight or loose?
Medical exam gloves and industrial gloves should have a tighter fit, as latex and nitrile are materials that are meant to conform to the shape of your hand. If these types of gloves fit too loosely, they can cause irritation on your skin.
A 7- or 8-year-old needs a glove that is 10 1/2 to 11 inches. A 9- to 12-year-old needs a glove that is 11 to 11 1/2 inches. A high school-aged child normally wears a glove between 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 inches.
A leather glove should fit your hand like a leather jacket fits your body—snug, but not super tight. You don't want too much room around your fingers, but you also want to be able to clench a fist comfortably—remember, the skin will stretch a little over time.
To find out your glove size, measure (in inches or centimeter) around your hand with a tape measure at the place indicated by the black line (just below the knuckles). You should use your dominant hand, the right if you are right-handed, and the left if you are left-handed.

Wrap the measuring tape around your palm, just below the knuckles, not including the thumb. Glove size should be measured in inches. Round up to the nearest half inch. For Proper Cloth gloves, we highly recommend purchasing a half inch larger size (e.g. if your hand measures 8.5″, purchase a glove size 9).
