What length are adult hockey socks?
The size of socks for hockey also determines the length. Socks for mites measure 16 to 18 inches, while youth hockey socks measure 22 to 24 inches. Intermediate size socks for hockey measure 26 to 28 inches, and adult socks measure 30 to 32 inches.
Hockey sock sizing is about as easy as it gets: it's simply measured as the length of the sock. The sock will run from your ankle to about 75% of the way up your thigh (to meet the Velcro tabs on your jock). Since socks are simply measured according to length most brands do not have a "youth" or "adult" size.

Shin Pads. Ice hockey shin pads protect the player's leg and knees from injury. Shin pads are necessary because the plastic shell of protection and cushion of the pad helps a player feel safe and secure when blocking a shot, taking a hit, or falling to the ice.
Pull the hockey socks on over the shin guards. With the tight end at the bottom of the shin guard, pull the socks all the way up. Open the velcro tabs on the mesh shorts and attach the sock to the velcro tab on the back and front.
Drying. Soak your socks. Getting your socks wet with warm or hot water before putting them in the dryer will help them react to the heat better and shrink more, faster! Set the dryer to the hottest setting for cotton or polyester socks.
