Which is stronger embroidery thread or regular thread?
STRENGTH- Quilting thread is stronger than embroidery thread as it is designed to hold your blocks together for generations to come. Embroidery thread is designed for surface embellishment. Embroidery thread does not have the same strength and is not designed for seaming.
The lower the weight number, the thicker or heavier the thread, and a higher weight number means a thinner or lighter thread. Embroidery threads are usually available in several different thread weights, with 40 being the most common.
Thread breaks can be caused by tension issues, machine timing, thread path interference, thread caught under spool, old or Rayon thread or poor digitizing. Thread frays usually have more to do with timing, burrs and nicks in the thread path.

Size for size, a fine thread is stronger than a coarse thread. This is both in tension (because of the larger stress area) and shear (because of their larger minor diameter). Because of the smaller pitch, they allow finer adjustments in applications that need such a feature.
Fine Threads (UNF)
Fine threads or UNF threads have more threads per axial length compared to coarse threads. Fine threads deliver increase strength through a greater shaft diameter but are slower to tighten.
Fine threads feature a higher tensile strength, making them ideal for strength applications. The shallow pitch (helical angle) of fine threads makes them much less susceptible to loosening from vibration. With less material to cut to form threads, the process of tapping holes for fine threaded fasteners is much easier.
While DMC and Anchor are the main high-quality threads you'll find on the market, you'll also come across a whole host of other brands out there that may well be a bit cheaper.

Stranded cotton embroidery thread
– This type of thread is the most commonly used and threads are a 100% cotton and have 6 strands. There are a variety of brands, we mostly use Anchor or DMC, but there are many smaller brands avalaible. DMC and Anchor are the most constant in colour, texture and colourfastness.
Polyester thread is lustrous, strong, and colorfast, even when bleached. Available in a wide variety of vibrant colors, polyester thread performs very well during embroidery and is made from multiple synthetic filaments. (Some brands offer both shiny and matte finishes. )

What is the most common embroidery thread?
