What is the age range of each generation? ›

Psychologist Jean Twenge defines millennials as those born from 1980 to 1994. Likewise, Australia's McCrindle Research uses the years 1980 to 1994 as Generation Y (millennial) birth years. A 2023 report by the Population Reference Bureau defines Millennials as those born from 1981 to 1999.

Generation Z, sometimes known as “zoomers,” is the demographic cohort that comes after millennials and proceeds Generation Alpha. Members of the Gen Z years were born between 1997 and 2012. So as of 2023, the Gen Z age range is anywhere from 11 to 26.

After boomer comes Generation X, which was 1965 to 1980. Then came Millennial, and after that was Generation Z, or Gen Z. Gen Z refers to people born between 1995 and 2010. The 'Z' in the name means "zoomer", as this is the first generation known to 'zoom' the internet.

Born between roughly 2010 and the end of 2024, “Generation Alpha” is the demographic successor to Gen Z. Zoomers fear them. Boomers want more of them. Millennials will keep making them for the rest of the year.

Millennials, also known as Gen Y, Echo Boomers, and Digital Natives, were born from approximately 1977 to 1995. However, if you were born anywhere from 1977 to 1980 you are a Cusper, which means you can have characteristics of both Millennials and Gen X.

The Greatest generation, those born 1901 to 1927, are known to have been born and come of age in the “American Century” of economic growth, technological progress, and mostly military triumph.

They are the generation that has received the most formal education. They are also more diverse and more politically liberal when compared with earlier generations (later generations show signs of eventually surpassing millennials in many of these categories).

Millennials embody a set of evolving values and aspirations that greatly influence their choices and behaviors. This generation highly values authority, achievement, and influence, demonstrating a strong desire for control, success, and recognition.

Anyone born between 1981 and 1996 (ages 23 to 38 in 2019) is considered a Millennial, and anyone born from 1997 onward is part of a new generation.

Some have hypothesized that the slow aging of a generation is thanks to the rising popularity of "tweakments" like filler and botox, or the fact that they have a better understanding of the importance of SPF for anti ageing, while others cite the well-analyzed idea that millennials have a sheer inability to "grow up."

Many of the theories online veer into the conspiratorial: One woman suggested that Gen Z looks older because the quality of food is getting worse, which results in faster wrinkles; another claimed that it's because food is getting better, and because millennials ate food with more preservatives in it than Gen Z, ...

The Silent Generation refers to people who were born between 1925 and 1945. There are several theories as to where the label 'Silent Generation' originated. The children who grew up during this time worked very hard and kept quiet. It was commonly understood that children should be seen and not heard.
