'One of the best and most effective ways in the past that have worked for me to hustle up some extra cash is by selling unwanted things,' Canna said
After you've made a decision regarding what you want to sell, Canna advises listing your things as quickly as possible.
'Think about the money and what you could do with that money and how much it could help you and how much it could alleviate financial stress in your life,' she said.
The financial expert recommended downloading an secondhand resale site app (pictured right) in order to make listing goods as easy as possible
Her recommendation is to download the Gumtree app - something she said is the 'secret to my success'.
'I listed over seven items in one hour on a Sunday afternoon and I was going at a really slow relaxed pace,' Canna revealed.
Another of Canna's top tips is to research the cost of what other similar items are selling for to give you a base from which to price your own goods.

'The purpose of this is to raise some cash so you do not want to price yourself out of the market,' she said.
Another tip she shared that will help ensure sales is to take lots of photos from different angles showing the items in the best possible light.
'Also if you have the boxes and the receipts and the warranty cards of that item, make sure you take a photograph of those as well,' Canna explained.
Canna also extolls the virtue of meeting sellers face-to-face to collect the cash because she believes this is a great way to potentially forge a new friendship over a shared interest

Canna said when listing items it's worth also spending a little time writing a detailed description.
Explain when an item was bought, where you bought it from and the reason why you are selling it.
'Also, make sure you quickly reply back to people who have questions about the items you are selling,' she said.
'And I also recommend being flexible with pickups. For the items I am selling that aren't bulky I actually take these into the office so people who can't pick these up from my home after hours can pop into my office and pick up from there.'

She said this is a great way to connect with your community as well as potentially forging friendship over a shared interest.
Once you have the money, the expert recommends quickly heading to the bank and putting this into a separate savings account.

Lastly, Canna said you should keep items you are selling out of the house to avoid your space becoming full again with unwanted possessions.
'This will remind you that you want to get rid of these items and you want to sell them. Keep them out until they are sold,' she said.
'And after a certain period, you could look at donating them to charity,' she concluded.
